Zircon sand is a naturally occurring mineral sand primarily composed of zirconium silicate minerals. It is known for its high zirconium content and is often used in various industrial applications due to its unique properties. Here is some key information about zircon sand:

  1. Composition: Zircon sand consists mainly of zirconium silicate minerals, primarily zircon (ZrSiO4). These minerals also often contain small amounts of hafnium (Hf) and sometimes other trace elements.
  2. Appearance: Zircon sand is typically beige or pale yellow in color. It has a granular, sand-like texture.
  3. Zirconium Content: Zircon is a valuable source of zirconium, a metallic element with a wide range of industrial applications. Zirconium is known for its resistance to corrosion and high-temperature stability.
  4. Mining: Zircon sand is primarily obtained from beach and coastal deposits, as well as from alluvial deposits. It is typically extracted through dredging or dry mining methods.
  5. Radiometric Dating: Zircon crystals found in zircon sand are often used in radiometric dating because of their stability and ability to retain radioactive isotopes. This is particularly valuable in dating geological formations.
  6. Environmental Concerns: The mining of zircon sand, like other mineral extraction activities, can have environmental impacts if not conducted responsibly. Sustainable mining practices are being emphasized to minimize these impacts.
  7. Market Demand: The mining of zircon sand, like other mineral extraction activities, can have environmental impacts if not conducted responsibly. Sustainable mining practices are being emphasized to minimize these impacts.

Uses:
Zircon is used in foundry industry mainly for casting and refractory application because if it excellent heat conductivity. Zircon is used in making of tiles and ceramic structures where it’s used as an opacifier or whitener to cover up the base colour of the ceramic body with thin layer of opacifying chemical which contains zircon flour in it.
Zircon sand & zircon flour having a very high temperature and abrasion resistance is also used in making of brake linings of very heavy duty vehicles like train brakes. Zircon sand is used in heat resistance lining in furnaces to make foundry moulds. Zircon is used for making ultra-high performance refractory bricks which has the highest heat baring capacity and very high thermal stability which is due to very high RUL (Refractory Under Load) nature of Zircon. We Vstake Solution Pvt. Ltd are deeply engaged in offering a wide array of Zircon Sand to our valuable Clients located in Mumbai, in Navi Mumbai, in Thane and all over India.
